Renew Passport at Subang Old Airport (Terminal 2)
This is my first time renewing my passport at Subang Old Airport, Terminal 2. Yes, Terminal 2 is used as Immigration Department. Terminal 3 signboard is visible during the day time but Terminal 2 signboard is not.
Ok, if you are coming from the roundabout, first thing you need to take note is the pedestrian bridge. Once you reach the pedestrian bridge, you can see MAS cargo building and a huge tower on your left. Go REAL SLOW from here until you see signboards of Eurocopter and Jabatan Metereologi Malaysia. Turn left (at Junction A) and you should see the Immigration Department building from here.

Some quick FAQ on the passport renewal at Terminal 2.
What do you need to bring to renew your passport at Terminal 2?
a) Photocopy of IC (Both sides on the same page)
b) 2 copies of your passport photo (blue background)
c) Your old passport book
d) Bring RM300 / RM600 (RM300 for 30 pages or RM600 for 60 pages)
Note: Putrajaya Immigration Center only process / renew passport for a group of people so they won’t process individual passport. I’m not sure what they mean by a group of people, maybe a pool of Indons kua …? If I go with my friend, then it is considered as a group what ?
What IF you don’t have photo or forget to photostate your IC?
No problem, there is a small shop inside the department to do both. The problem is you need to wait longer as you can’t get the application form / number if all the above documents are not ready yet.
How long does it take to get your new passport?
2 hours if you manage to finish the whole process (filling up form, etc etc, making payment) before 3pm. After 3pm, you have to come on the next day. Mind that their lunch hour is from 1-2pm. I went there at 11:45am (Thursday, Non school holiday) and made my payment around 12:50pm.
What is the process like once you are there?
1. Q at the counter 1 to take your application form. The officer will check the availability of the required documents before he gives you a waiting number. You need to buy the application form from this counter too (RM1).
2. Fill up the form. I would suggest that you bring along a hardcover file and your own pen so that you can fill up the form quickly because you need to re-Q to get a waiting number.
3. On the form, if you are renewing your passport for yourself, remember to fill up the old passport number for Bahagian C and E (if I remember correctly).
4. The officer will check and give you a waiting number.
5. Any counters except 1,8 and 13 may be available once your number is called.
6. The officer will stamp, check your fingerprint and etc. HOLD ON to your waiting number (the paper). The officer will collect all the documents from you and ask you to wait again.
7. You wait again for counter 8 to call your number.
8. Make payment at counter 8. I saw a credit card logo at the counter but I’m not sure whether their credit card payment is working or not. To be safe, bring cash. Do not get cheated by the sign saying “Bayaran Tidak Mengikut Turutan No. Giliran”, as my first impression was I didn’t have to wait for them to call me and I could pay straight away. Just wait for them to call your number.
9. Come back after 2 hours
10. Collect your passport at counter 13. This should be fast, 5-10 mins.
Others
Public toilet is available outside the Immigration office (left side of the office).
Some food shops at the right side of the office.

I’m not sure about this branch. I’ve read somewhere that Damansara and Shah Alam branches do open on weekend (half day 8.00 - 1.30). Highly suggest that you make to a call to the branch that you want to go to confirm first
October 6th, 2009 at 9:38 pm
KIPPAS Kiosk is available

I did make a call to them. They mentioned that only the Shah Alam and Damansara branches open from 7.30am-1pm on weekends.
Cheers!

December 21st, 2009 at 6:22 pm
Million thanks for the very very clear direction & procedure ya! I’m always blur blur even after renewing for a few times. But this is my first time to Subang Terminal. Luckily I am “geh po” to search around first.

Thank you so much for your valuable information. Very clear map. The Office Operation Hours:
Monday - Thursday: 07:30 AM - 01:00 PM & 02:00 PM - 05:00 PM
Friday: 07:30 AM - 12:15 PM & 02:45 PM - 05:00 PM
I guess they are not open on weekends.
If the Kiosk is open, i would strongly recommend to go to the Kiosk. When I went an officer helped everyone to operate the Kiosk. At the Kiosk machine, you have to place your old passport and IC, bank in RM. 300 (32 pages - 5 years) and the machine will generate a receipt. Very straight forward process and less time consuming.

Thanks for your contribution.
I suggest the immigration department makes a link to this webpage. I have been living overseas for many years and 5 yrs ago, I renewed my passport through embassy. I supposed to get most info from government website but google linked me here.

I’d like to share my experience here, if you don’t mind. After reading so many sites I became sceptical about renewing my passport.
Today Friday, (March 26, 2010) I wanted to go renew my passport at Putrajaya. I should have left at 6.30am but woke up late…very late, at 10.30am. Thank goodness I took leave from work!
That’s because I slept at 4am after going through so many websites and blogs that provided feedback about passport renewal in Malaysia and also using the KIPPAS at Pusat Bandar Damansara. Unfortunately there were more negative comments and it made me worry a lot. Why worry? Because I have to take time off work and its not like I can get leave anytime ok.
I couldn’t make up my mind if it was better to go to Pusat Bandar Damansara or Putrajaya. At 2.30pm, I finally got a hold of myself and left for Putrajaya. My decision was so abrupt and instantaneous that I even left my half-eaten lunch and drink on the table…
On the way, (while waiting for traffic lights and in jam in KL) I called the Immigration Office (03-8880 1070) to enquire and to confirm the location. A sweet, polite voice answered my call at the other end. She asked me where I’m coming from and whether I’d like to go to the nearest office. I told her I’m going to Putrajaya and so she directed me to Putrajaya Precint 15. It is a new branch and you can get the info from the Immigration Office online. The address is at:
Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia,
Cawangan Presint 15,
Bangunan Chancery Place, Presint 15,
W.P Putrajaya.
–Weekdays only (not opened on Sat/Sun)–
**If you use a GPS, you can find “Chancery Place”**
I finally found the location and building at 3.15pm. Parking was free (I don’t think its free for long since I see barriers being erected in the underground car park) and there were plenty of empty parking spaces. The building is like a horse-shoe (U shaped) and the immigration office is on one end of it. It is not a big office. There’s around 60-70 seats; 1 ticket counter; 4 Permohonan counters; 1 Pembayaran counter; 1 collection counter.
After I parked the car, arranged my documents, searched for the lift, waited for the lift and got out of the lift to Aras 1, it was already 3.30pm.
BTW, I already downloaded the form IM.42 from the immigration website last night, completed it and stuck my pictures onto it, too (one pic in front, one at the back). If you’re printing the form out, heed the advice from people to print out on 1 page front and back - not 2 pages. You only need to bring the completed form IM.42 (no need birth cert and no need to insert birth cert no. if you’re renewing like me), 2 recent photographs (3.5cm x 5cm) and photocopy of NRIC (back and front on the same side of a page). Naturally, if you’ve had problems with the law/immigration before, then don’t expect smooth sailing lah. However, if you have no problems then its VERY smooth sailing as what I’ve experienced, which you’ll find out more reading below.
I happend to alight from the other end of the U-shaped building, and had to ask around before arriving outside the Immigration Office at 3.45pm. I walked straight up to the Ticketing counter. The Officer at the counter checked my documents and the gave me a ticket. He was really friendly and chatty. After I got my ticket, I thought, “Ok, here goes…the clock has started ticking!”. I looked around and there were 2 families and 2 individuals waiting; one family at payment counter and one family receiving their passports.
At 3.51pm my number was called and I went up to one of the “Permohonan Kaunter” counters. The Officer checked my form, I passed him my NRIC and then the old passport. He asked for my thumbprint (using ink) and proceeded to ask me for my digital print. There was a minute of silence as I anxiously wiped the ink off my right thumb before I could put it on the biometric finger scanner. Of course, the Officer provided me with tissues.
At 4.02pm I was called to the payment counter. I paid and sat down again. At 4.16pm the collection counter prompted my number and I collected my passport. Now, THAT’s what I call service! Wow! Superb! All done in 31 minutes.
I was soooo relieved after having read so many negative comments from the websites. Maybe the new office had few people, but c’mon Friday afternoon 3.30pm??…I didn’t have any expectations but the reality of actually being able to renew my passport on a late Friday afternoon in 30mins was really beyond me.
I arrived back in my condo at 4.50pm (its faster getting back since already know the way) and prepared for the evening (also writing to you here). I made a damn good decision going to Putrajaya. And I have to convey a hearty SYABAS and thanks to the local immigration service! You are doing very good, doing well and keep up the factastic service lah!
Five Star service!

I have visited the Putrajaya immigration Department on 7/4/10 and I have been informed that the Passport service is no longer provided there. The service staff told me to renew the passport at other branches.
So, I went to Subang terminal 2 this morning.
If you are doing renewal only, you will be instructed to do it at the KIPPAS machine rather than at the counter since the process will be faster. Unless your IC/passport/thumb print are not readable by machine. You’ll be surprise that quit a high chance that some ICs and thumb print might not be readable. I have notice 2 people have IC problem and a senior with thumb print problem in a queue of just 10 people.
There will be immigrant department staffs next to the machine to help you operate the machine. So, you don’t need to read the “Renewing Passport Guide for Idiot” reference book. Just key in your phone number, put your thumb and money when the screen prompt you to do so. Normally 2 hours is needed before you can collect your new passport, but there is some unknown issue causing some delay today, I have been told to collect after 4 hours.
KIPPAS operate hours
7.45am to 3.45pm
What you need for KIPPAS machine:
a) Photocopy of IC (Both sides on the same page)
b) 1 copy of your passport photo (blue background)
c) Your old passport book
d) IC
e) Bring RM100 (2 years)/ RM300 (5 years)
f) your thumb (left or right)
g) phone number
Hope this is helpful

Hi, I was on the way to Subang Airport to renew passport with my bf this morning and realized that we’re not sure where it is as we didn’t do earlier research. We quickly went online to Google for info. Then we found your website, thanks to your detailed guide/direction we managed to find the place without a hassle
Good job
